Labor Day falls on the same day as a holiday for the US Postal Service, so Amazon is probably closed. On September 5, 2020, Amazon won’t be able to deliver because of a holiday. The company will not take or send orders on the holiday day.
Amazon employees can take up to seven paid vacation days per year.
Holidays. Hourly workers who work on a holiday get extra pay for the time and a half. No matter your province, you can count on Amazon to be open on all officially recognized holidays.
The inside story
In the United States, Labor Day is a widely celebrated and well-paid holiday. On Labor Day, 97 percent of businesses give some employees the day off. On the other hand, more than 40% of companies will still be open and running, with at least some employees on duty. Large companies are much more likely to have some employees work on Labor Day than small ones are. About 1.5 million Walmart and Sam’s Club employees, both full-time and part-time, will get a special bonus based on the number of hours they worked on December 31. In addition, the team’s drivers, coaches, and assistant managers will get more money.
Walmart’s decision to stop giving holiday pay was based on the fact that in 2016, the company’s policies for vacation, holiday, sick, and personal leave were all rolled into a single pool. So, we made this change so that our workers could have more freedom over when and how they spend their vacation time. Sam’s does not offer holiday pay. We’ll have to use some of our paid vacation time to make up for the day off. Employers are not unusual to give their workers paid time off on Thanksgiving and Christmas Day. But you can work on a different day and still get paid the same amount.
