There aren’t many young high rollers in the poker community. But sometimes there are real diamonds who make it to the biggest events and earn huge prize money before they turn 30. The article contains the top 5 most successful tournament bizzo poker players under 30, even though some are now over thirty.
Scott Blumstein
Prior to the 2017 WSOP Main Event, almost no one knew about Scott. He’s only had one really big win (1st place at the Borgata Summer Poker Open 2016 for $199,854) and three WSOP Circuit cashes.
But in 2017, everything changed. Scott beat 7,220 people in the Main Event of the World Series of Poker and earned crazy prize money: $8,150,000 for first place. Interestingly, such a win did not change Bloomstein. He did not scatter money, but put most of it in the bank. But he nevertheless noted the victory – he bought a new Hyundai Santa Fe. After the championship streak, Scott began to devote less time to poker and focused on development in other areas of life. The best result since receiving the gold bracelet is 109th place at the WSOP Online 2021.
Chin Wei Lim
Chin Lim’s path is very different from Scott Bloomstein’s. He earned $9,156,433 in prize money over dozens of tournaments. Chin won his first big money at €25,000 No Limit Hold’em at the European Poker Tour in 2018. Then he took fifth place among 77 high rollers and received $200,908 for it. But 2019 was a truly breakthrough year for Lim. During the first week of August at the Triton Poker High Roller Series in London, he earned nearly $2,000,000. Interestingly, most of that money went to buy-ins. That same month at EPT Barcelona, he finished third at the €5,000 No Limit Hold’em (Event #28) and earned another $524,788. But the best of Chin’s career was the WSOPE 2019 series, where in 3 days he took first and second places in tournaments for €100,000 and €250,000, respectively. Then he became richer by almost $4,500,000.
Charlie Carrel
Charlie’s early successes look impressive even against the background of other representatives of the rating. The guy won the first million already at the age of 21 – then he took the main place at the high roller event as part of the EPT Grand Final 2015 and earned €1,114,000. Two years later, he broke his own record in the $100,000 No Limit Hold’em event at the PokerStars Championship Bahamas, where he earned $1,241,682 for the win. The next big prize he won was in 2019. Then he earned $1,601,853 for the first place in £50,000 No Limit Hold’em – 8 Handed at the Triton Poker Super HighRoller Series London. With this momentum, you can expect Charlie to break his personal record for prize money in 2023.
Matthias Eibinger
Matthias Eibinger, like most modern poker players, started with online competitions. From 2011 to 2015, the guy won about $1,500,000 in tournaments, after which he moved to live tables. Serious money had to wait another 2 years, but from that moment Mattias was unstoppable – he had an incredible 27 six- and 2 seven-figure prizes. Eibinger’s best results were at the $100,000 No Limit Hold’em Partypoker MILLIONS Sochi 2020 and $100,000 No Limit Hold’em ARIA at the World Poker Tour 2018, where he earned $1,008,000 and $1,006,060, respectively. Interestingly, both times Mattias was in second place. Since then, Eibinger has regularly received six-figure prize money, but the high roller has not yet managed to break his own record.
Wai Kin Yong
Wai Kin Yong is one of the most successful players in the history of the Triton Poker High Roller Series. In total, the guy earned almost $9,000,000 from these events. At the same time, the Malaysian is the son of one of the co-founders of the events, which gave rise to many jokes on this topic in poker circles. Wai Kin Yong earned the biggest prize money of $3,154,064 in 2019 for winning the £100,000 No Limit Hold’em – Triton London Main Event. His heads-up opponent was Paul Phua, the second co-founder of the series. The participants shared the prize money, and then Wai Kin Yong beat his opponent, took the cup and an additional $150,000.
